"Don`t Leave Cars Unattended While Defrosting" -Police Warn

Peterborough Police are warning drivers not to leave their cars unattended while they`re defrosting them.

Officers say it`s important to make sure vehicles are clear of ice before driving but motorists should stay with them.

A spokesman says people assume nothing`s likely to happen outside their house within the space of a few minutes but opportunist thieves are always on the lookout .

The advice is for drivers to allow extra time to safely clear their windscreens.

Talking CCTV Cameras To Be Installed

Talking CCTV cameras are to be installed across Peterborough city centre.

It would mean anyone seen by a CCTV operator dropping litter or causing trouble would hear a voice from a speaker telling them to clean up their act or calm down or face prosecution.

The City Council says it`s part of a number of measures to clamp down on litter and troublemakers.
